“Transfigured Night”: a work for string sextet vibrating with late romantic magic, dramatic passion and subtle nature paintings, created as a wordless setting of the poem of the same name by Richard Dehmel, as a purely musical retelling of the emotional dialogues of a couple who come together again on a higher level. Who could still understand today that Arnold Schönberg heated up people's minds in 1899 - with his bold harmonies and the realization of an extra-musical program in the genre of chamber music? How much Schönberg referred to tradition with his later innovations, for example to Johannes Brahms, can be experienced in this dreamlike program with his G major string sextet - and performed by a hand-picked star cast.
